Make new oak disappear into the existing stairwell.
The stairwell had unfinished openings, missing trim, gaps, and existing reddish-stained oak that could not be matched by guessing. The repair needed custom profile work and a stain approach that respected what was already there.
New oak trim was fabricated to match the existing profiles, stain samples were tested before committing, and a custom stringer was scribed to the irregular stair and wall conditions.
Notes
- Problem
- Original oak profiles were missing or incomplete, and the stairwell had irregular existing conditions.
- Move
- Run matching profiles, test stain recipes, and scribe new parts to the actual stairwell.
- Result
- New work that extends the stairwell language instead of calling attention to the repair.
