Make the repairs read as original, not as patches.

This top-floor apartment needed several specific pieces of work: kitchen installation, display-cabinet lighting, a bedroom millwork concept, fireplace tile, and a more intensive stairwell restoration.

The stairwell carried the strongest craft problem. Missing profiles, irregular gaps, a custom stringer, and a reddish oak stain all had to be matched closely enough that the new work did not read as a later patch.

Stairwell

Make new oak disappear into the existing stairwell.

The stairwell had unfinished openings, missing trim, gaps, and existing reddish-stained oak that could not be matched by guessing. The repair needed custom profile work and a stain approach that respected what was already there.

New oak trim was fabricated to match the existing profiles, stain samples were tested before committing, and a custom stringer was scribed to the irregular stair and wall conditions.

Planning

Use drawings and finish studies before committing to the room.

The project included visualization work as well as installation. The stairwell rendering helped evaluate the stained-wood language before the final work, while the bedroom color study tested how a paneled millwork wall could conceal a closet door.

Those planning pieces kept the client-facing decisions separate from the fabrication decisions that had to happen in the shop and on site.

Apartment Details

Keep the supporting work precise without overstating the scope.

The apartment also included kitchen installation work, concealed display-cabinet lighting, range hood coordination, backsplash work, and fireplace tile. Those scopes matter, but they support the stairwell story rather than replacing it.

In the kitchen, LED placement was tested so the strips could light the display cabinets without becoming the visible feature. In the living room, the fireplace tile gives the insert a finished surround.
